Week Fourteen: Fortitude. Service

Month Four: The Virtue of Fortitude. Loving Myself through eyes of Faith produces patience.

In this season of Lent, we are called to pray, fast, and give alms as we prepare our hearts for Easter.  The beauty of service or giving alms is that it makes me think of things outside myself.  It brings me into connection and see the direct impact I can have on another person and the impact they have on me.

Week Fourteen: Fortitude.  Fasting (More versus Enough)

Month Four: The Virtue of Fortitude. Loving Myself through eyes of Faith produces patience.

I find myself at times in the cycle of wanting more. Whether it’s overeating, spending, or scrolling through social media, I’m in a space of not enough.  Rather than giving into these impulses, when I focus on simplicity and gratitude, it breaks this cycle of wanting more.

Week Fourteen: Fortitude. Prayer

Month Four: The Virtue of Fortitude. Loving Myself through eyes of Faith produces patience.

In this season of Lent, we are called to pray, fast, and give alms as we prepare our hearts for Easter.  We develop a discerning and faithful heart, through a life of prayer. As humans, it is hard to live the faithful life we are called to live. Luckily, we are not meant to go it alone.

Week Fourteen: Fortitude.  The Inner Voice

Month Four: The Virtue of Fortitude. Loving Myself through eyes of Faith produces patience.

There is nothing evil wants more than to keep us in the dark, to keep us focused on the spectacular and sensational, the next shiny object or even the heart wrenching events we see throughout our day. When we focus on the spectacular, we miss the subtlety before us. We fail to see the nuances and goodness right in front of us. Discernment of spirits is a lifelong journey that begins with fortitude. With knowing myself and my true nature, I see myself as God sees me. However, the layers of disconnection from God in this life keep me blind unless I actively turn to God and seek His wisdom and knowledge to see the whole of myself, understanding my drivers, my desires, and my fears. When I see the whole of me, I become the person God intended me to be, ordering myself to tell His story through me.

Week Fourteen: Fortitude.  Aligned with God

Month Four: The Virtue of Fortitude. Loving Myself through eyes of Faith produces patience.

When I cling to God who is the Beloved and whom I love, I learn how to love, and I become more loving. However, my hurts and disappointments that have shaped me and taken away my innocence keep me from alignment. As I practice the virtue of fortitude, I’m given the grace to see the reality of who I am. I have the courage to go deep within and take off the blinders of how I perceive myself. I understand the dark and light sides of my being.

Week Fourteen: Fortitude. My Value

Month Four: The Virtue of Fortitude. Loving Myself through eyes of Faith produces patience.

How well do you value yourself? Be honest, do you clearly see yourself as the One who loved you first sees you? Life is an invitation to journey into the deep of this knowing. To live in the consciousness of who I am, aware of the creation gifts I bring to the world. As I practice the virtue of fortitude, I develop the strength it takes to live a wholistic life and walk the path of holiness.
