Finding God's Goodness

Week Fourteen: Fortitude. Prayer

Month Four: The Virtue of Fortitude. Loving Myself through eyes of Faith produces patience.

In this season of Lent, we are called to pray, fast, and give alms as we prepare our hearts for Easter.  We develop a discerning and faithful heart, through a life of prayer. As humans, it is hard to live the faithful life we are called to live. Luckily, we are not meant to go it alone.

The Holy Spirit within me is there to guide me along my way.  But how do I discern the Spirit’s voice? Through conversation, reading God’s word, and active listening, and also being awake to the Spirit within me and around me. My time in prayer is sometimes the hardest part of the day to fit in, and that is when I need it the most.  Having fortitude in prayer awakens me, it changes me and my heart. It allows God the space to do His will, helps me discern the truth, and strengthens my faithful heart. As Pope Francis says, “peace is always possible, and our prayer is at the root of peace. Prayer disseminates peace.” How much of your day is spent in prayer?

With God as your companion you will live in the light of faith, with hope and fortitude, with true patience and perseverance, all the days of your life.

St. Catherine of Siena

Thank You Lord for always being near me and the ability to talk with You every moment of my day through the gift of prayer.
