What does it mean to live in the fruit of gentleness? Gentleness is defined in the dictionary as “the quality of being kind, tender, or mild-mannered.” The fruit of the Spirit of gentleness involves humility and gratitude, polite, restrained, and compassionate behavior towards everyone else.

Valuing others is justice. The virtue of faith grows our faithfulness.

What is so important about worship? To worship is to order the whole of one’s life toward the living God, and in doing so, one becomes interiorly and exteriorly rightly ordered. To worship is to signal to oneself what one’s life is finally about. Worship is not something that God needs, but it is very much something that we need.

The virtue of hope grows gentleness within which in turn affects our behavior towards others. Hope helps us take the edge off our fearful thought patterns and connects us to a greater Good.

Compassion brings healing into our lives. It is justice in action, giving others their due. Grace is usually involved in deepening our own knowing of ourselves and God. Take some time to walk through a situation that comes to mind that needs healing and journal through these four steps of Compassionate Communication.

Valuing others is justice. The virtue of faith grows our faithfulness.

Where is peace to be found in the world? In the hearts of the wise and humble. Those who are humble enough to be at peace during anguish, to accept conflict and insecurity and overcome it with love, because they realize who they are, and therefore possess the freedom that is their true heritage. These are the children of God. We all know them. You do not need to go to the monastery to find them. They are everywhere.

Compassion is our natural state of being — it is natural to feel joy in giving and receiving from the heart. What happens, then, to disconnect us from our compassionate nature, leading us to behave violently or exploitatively? And conversely, what empowers some to stay connected to our compassionate nature even under the worst circumstances?

The Lord comes to rule the earth with justice. So much of what rules our society causes strife and division. But when I keep my eyes focused above, I’m reminded to be confident. I am to rejoice in knowing there will be justice and to be grateful.
