The Fire Within

Reflections for contemplative living

Today we celebrate Pentecost where the descent of the Holy Spirit is placed within our hearts. This is the energetic force that draws us to life. This living spirit guides us, and reminds us what our creator placed in our hearts, drawing us to love.

Center of the Universe

Reflections for contemplative living

The first step of the spiritual life is humility, a concept most of us have difficulty understanding. True humility is seeing the world as it really is and not how we wish it to be. It means coming to understand the true center of the universe, and it is not me.

Celebrating Motherhood

Reflections for contemplative living

As we celebrate the mothers in our life, we traditionally think of the women who have given birth or those who have adopted children. Having All We Need

Reflections for contemplative living

We live in a world where success is often judged by worldly possessions and riches. Once our greediness gets a taste, we usually want more and more and are rarely satisfied.  Our culture is addicted to comfort, distraction: bigger, better, faster.  We are drawn to the sensational.  We get a jolt, a buzz, it’s something to make us feel, to wake up and feel alive.
