In Your Presence

There are moments in prayer when words become unnecessary. We come before God with our plans, our worries, our desires, and slowly discover that what we need most is not something from Him, but Him Himself.

In the mystery of His presence, the soul finally stops striving.

We spend so much of life believing we must bring something to God—our accomplishments, our wisdom, our efforts. Yet the deeper we enter into prayer, the more we realize that we have nothing to offer that He has not first given us. We come empty-handed, and that is enough.

For what does God desire but our presence? And in return, He gives us His own.

There is a profound rest that comes when we stop trying to earn God’s love and simply receive it. We discover that His love has already surrounded us. Before we spoke a prayer, He was there. Before we sought Him, He was seeking us.

In His presence, the soul finds its home.

My soul rests in Your embrace.

The saints knew this secret. The angels know it even now. Before the majesty of God, the whole host of heaven bows in adoration, not because they are compelled to, but because they have seen the beauty of Love itself.

And yet the wonder of the Gospel is that the God worshipped by angels desires to draw near to us.

So near that He calls us His own. So near that He dwells within us. So near that His presence is more intimate than our own thoughts.

Jesus is not distant. He is closer than we imagine. Closer than our fears. Closer than our suffering. Closer than the future we worry about.

He is as near as the breath in our lungs.

Every breath becomes a reminder that we live because He sustains us. Every moment becomes an invitation to rest more deeply in His love.

Perhaps prayer is simply learning to live from that reality, to awaken again and again to the One who is already present.

The One who surrounds us. The One who embraces us. The One who gives us Himself.

And in that presence, the soul can finally be still and sing His praise.
