We can be easily led astray these days unless we are grounded in truth. With so many voices shouting for our attention, we can start ignoring the quiet whisper of the Divine within. We know silence and prayer are crucial to foster this connection allowing us to stay in tune with our mission, use our gifts well and bear goodness. The Spirit is always here to guide us. It our our job to leverage the seven gifts we have been given so we can participate in the external exchange of love.

Recently I have noticed being stuck in a rut. As much as I love the comfort of a routine, I am realizing that this can create a deadness in me. So, I have decided to switch it up. When I say my daily rosary, rather than praying with community, I walk in silence observing nature. I am throwing some Pilates in with my yoga practice. I am re-committed to tracking what I eat. As was the case last year during the beginning of the pandemic closures, this year’s Stations of the Cross (or Via Crucis) presided over by Pope Francis were held in the quiet and virtually empty St. Peter’s Square. This year, though, the mediations and prayers for each Station were prepared and read by children from Rome and other Italian cities. The faith and hope expressed by these children are profound and moving and are worthy of further reflection during this Easter season. As a complement to the text of the meditations and prayers provided here, you can watch a video of the Stations and hear the children’s sweet voices, as well as see several of the children greet Pope Francis with hugs after the Stations concluded.
