Jesus complains when the crowds use worldly standards to size him up. They are caught up in their opinions and all too easily pass judgment on Him. They accuse Jesus of being possessed by a demon, a drunkard, and so on.

Love and belonging are basic needs and essential to living the human experience. Belief in our worthiness keeps us from living fully. We bridge the divide by being fully seen, known, and loved.

My weight loss accountability group named “God’s Temples” is a microcosm of how I work for justice. Fighting laziness, temptation and numbness in our group is how we fight for justice. It is a battle. Our bodies, the temple of our souls, should be given their due as we all have a basic need for well-being. But our culture is against us.
