The idea that mission becomes a “matter of love” resonates deeply with me. The encyclical describes missionaries as people who are themselves “in love” and are compelled to share what they have experienced. They aren’t interested in proselytism, but in simply sharing their joy. This is a beautiful model for my own life.
My belovedness isn’t a secret to keep; it’s a joy to share with the world. My mission is simply to be a lover—to share the love that has changed my life.
As “Dilexit Nos” states, “Mission becomes a matter of love when we contemplate the Sacred Heart, who called and sent the disciples to the ends of the earth.” This is the same sentiment Jesus shared in Matthew 6:21: “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
What is the joy in your heart that you are most eager to share with others?
Share your faith with someone today in a simple, non-preachy way—maybe by telling a story about how God has worked in your life.
