True Worth

Reflections for contemplative living

It has been said that man will not consent to drive away the moneychangers from the temple of his soul until he realizes that it is a Holy of Holies, the house of God. This allows us to see our true worth.

As we die to ourselves, we depend more on the Holy Spirit’s guidance, which is the true meaning of living in Christ. By developing a spirit of faith through the habit of interior silence, we find where God dwells.

Many of us don’t see the connection between thoughts about God and the service of God; between interior silence and continual detachment.  If we look closer, we see there is a strong, unbreakable link between the two.

When you find a recollected person, he will be detached; seek one who is detached, and he will be recollected. To have found one is to have discovered the other. Anyone who practices either recollection or detachment cannot ignore the fact that he is doing a double stroke of good work. This is how we go forth and set the world on fire.

How will you sit in the silence of your true worth today?

Lord, thank you for showing me the holiness of my being.
