Finding God's Goodness

Week Twenty-Two. Gentleness. My Blueprint.

Month Five. Fortitude to love myself, expands my hope and kindness.

On what is the whole of your life built? Is your foundation currently strong? Do you follow a blueprint to build or maintain a solid foundation? As I walk the spiritual path, I’m learning the importance of applying Jesus’ teachings. As we see in the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 7:21, “Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. But it did not collapse.”

If I am rooted in God, then I can withstand anything, because I am linked to the power that is creating the cosmos. I am blessed at the deepest level and nothing can finally touch me. But if I choose not to take Jesus’ words to heart “I’ll be like the fool who built his house on sand. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined.” When the inevitable trials come, a life built on pleasure, money, power, or fame will give way.

So invite you to ponder a simple question, where do you stand? How goes it with your heart? On what, precisely, is the whole of your life built?

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another and forgiving one another, if one has a grievance against another; as the Lord has forgiven you, so must you also do.

Colossians 3:12-13

Thank You Lord for gently guiding me and allowing me to follow Your blueprint to build my life on a solid foundation.
