The narrow path is one of humility. Our souls long to rest in their pure state as God designed. But the human condition is the struggle with the ego that shapes and adapts us to living on earth. God’s mercy so greatly wants to act within us that all we need to do is open the door.
Both the sinner and the righteous person need God’s mercy. Conversion, as well as perseverance, is a grace. Souls striving for perfection adore God’s mercy, because the abundance of graces flow from this place. We are to trust boundlessly and God will do the rest to sanctify and purify us. Grace and mercy are drawn through the vessel of trust. The more a soul trusts, the more it will receive.
Souls that trust boundlessly are a great comfort to God, because the treasures of grace are poured into them. God wants us to ask for much because His desire is to give us much. God grieves when our souls ask for little, and our hearts remain limited, hard, and narrow.
For there are three ways of performing an act of mercy: the merciful word, by forgiving and by comforting; secondly, if you can offer no word, then pray—that too is mercy; and thirdly, deeds of mercy.
St. Faustina Kowalska
Thank you, Lord, for helping me grow in trust of You and Your mercy.
