Day 12: Serving Others

An important service to those in need.

There are so many things that I love about the Catholic Church.  The teachings, prayers, and writings from the saints all draw me deeper into my relationship with God. After all, this is the role of the Church to give us community and grow in our faith.

Every morning, I start my day with a cup of coffee and the Morning Offering:

O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer you my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day for all the intentions of your Sacred Heart, in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, for the salvation of souls, the reparation of sins, the reunion of all Christians, and in particular for the intentions of the Holy Father this month. Amen.

Over the years, this prayer has led me to discover the part of my heart that pines with God for the salvation of souls. I pray especially for those souls who have died and have no one to pray for them. It’s pretty cool that I can be of service to others through this spiritual work of mercy.

Did I pray for those who have died that have no one to pray for them?

Thank you, Lord, for allowing me to help do Your good works in the rituals of my day. Authentically Yours
