Valuing others is justice. The virtue of love grows our generosity.
It’s not a wonder we battle the injustices of the world. Rarely do we take the time to slow down and ask ourselves how well do we love. When I did, I learned that I really didn’t know what love was.

There is really not much that we can do to fulfill our destiny. What we can do is learn to love well. When we do this, our generosity grows, bringing justice into the world.
Valuing others is justice. The virtue of hope grows our gentleness.
We live in a hard world, especially in the west where we are taught to be independent, self-reliant, and to look out for number one. While this has worldly benefits, over time, our hearts become hardened, we live in our heads, and rarely let our guard down. This is counter to what the spiritual life requires of us where we must learn how to be childlike, to be humble and small. A hardened heart never allows us to lead an integrated life of body, mind, and spirit. We must cultivate a soft and gentle heart. A heart of forgiveness. Forgiveness is mild behavior, forgiving rather than being angry, being gracious rather than vengeful. The gentle person is meek; gentle and humble of heart. He does not insist on having his own way or being right but yields to others for the sake of relationship.

What does it mean to live in the fruit of gentleness? Gentleness is defined in the dictionary as “the quality of being kind, tender, or mild-mannered.” The fruit of the Spirit of gentleness involves humility and gratitude, polite, restrained, and compassionate behavior towards everyone else.

What is so important about worship? To worship is to order the whole of one’s life toward the living God, and in doing so, one becomes interiorly and exteriorly rightly ordered. To worship is to signal to oneself what one’s life is finally about. Worship is not something that God needs, but it is very much something that we need.

When I try to picture what heaven might be like, it looks a little like paradise in my mind’s eye. A place that is comforting and safe where I can be free.

The virtue of hope grows gentleness within which in turn affects our behavior towards others. Hope helps us take the edge off our fearful thought patterns and connects us to a greater Good.
