There are moments when something inside us stirs, a quiet desire to rise, to lean toward the One who calls us the faithful. It isn’t dramatic. It’s more like a gentle upward pull, a longing to step out of the shadows and into the light that has been waiting for us all along.
Grace meets us there.
Not because we have earned it, but because God delights in giving it. When we strive for His desire, when we offer our small good works, when we lift even a trembling hand toward Him, grace lands upon us. It finds us. It sees us. It gathers us from the places where we’ve been hiding or hesitating.
This is the movement of the spiritual life: to rise, to reach, to be found.
And in that rising, something awakens. We begin to notice that God’s presence is not distant but woven into all things inspiring, every kindness, every moment of clarity, every breath of courage. What is just, what is holy, what is steady and true becomes like sweetness on the tongue. We taste it and long for more.
We long to be united with God.
Not in some far-off future, but now through the daily lifting of our hearts, through the quiet offering of our work, through the hope that grows when we stay awake to grace.
Grace is not fragile, not scarce and not hesitant. Grace is the light that sees us from the shadows and calls us forward.
May we keep rising toward that light.
May we keep striving for the One who already holds us.
May we taste the sweetness of His presence and let it shape our longing until our whole life leans toward God.
