Some nights at our Peace of Heaven lake home feel like a deep breath for my soul. Away from the city’s glow, the sky stretches out in every direction, wide, quiet, and endless. The stars don’t just shine; they open something in me. Standing beneath that vast canopy, I feel my heart expand in ways it never does under streetlights and schedules.
I put on a little music, let the night settle around me, and everything softens.
OneRepublic’s Good Life rises into that open sky with its bright, buoyant hope. It reminds me that even in the messiness, there are moments that shimmer moments that feel like grace breaking through.
And then Bill Withers’ “Lovely Day” drifts in.
Simple. Steady. Profound.
The song begins with that familiar heaviness—the kind of morning dread we all know too well. But then comes the turn: one person’s presence shifts the whole day. Love becomes a grounding force, a quiet resilience that makes even an impossible day feel alright. It’s emotional strength wrapped in melody, reminding me that small pockets of peace can carry us through. That someone for me in the is the embodied presence of God.
Out under the expansive sky, those songs feel like prayer. The stars overhead, the music in my ears, the God who makes all things new, together they anchor me in hope.
As I prepare for sleep, I reflect how this was a day the Lord made; where did I rejoice and be glad in it. I thank you for your faithfulness. 🙏
