Strength That Grows in Suffering

There are moments in life when love becomes something deeper than affection or companionship. It becomes witness. It becomes reverence. Walking beside my husband through his long health journey has taught me this in ways I never expected.

I have watched him face suffering with a courage that is quiet, steady, and real. Not the kind that denies pain, but the kind that keeps choosing hope anyway. The kind that keeps showing up to life with determination and a heart still open to grace. His perseverance has become one of the holiest teachers in my life.

I’ve come to believe what I once only hoped was true: if we allow God to work through them, sufferings can make us stronger, give us a greater appreciation for the blessings in our lives, and bring us close to Christ. I see this truth in him every day. His trust has stretched my faith. His willingness to keep moving forward in the midst of limitation has called me into a more generous, Christ‑shaped love.

There is a sacredness in walking this road together. In the small victories. In the hard days. In the quiet prayers whispered when no one else sees. His journey has become a place where God’s presence feels near—sometimes in strength, sometimes in surrender, always in love.

I admire him not only for what he endures, but for who he is becoming through it. And I thank God for the privilege of walking beside him, learning from him, and being drawn closer to Christ through the witness of his life.
