The Heart in a Liquid World

Our society is often described as “liquid,” characterized by a “hectic pace” and a constant bombardment of technology. It’s incredibly easy to get swept away by this current, to lack the patience for an interior life. The danger, as “Dilexit Nos” points out, is that we “risk losing our center, the center of our very selves.”

This is a powerful wake-up call for me. To own my belovedness, I must actively resist this pull and intentionally make space for my heart to breathe, to be still, and to be with God. As Psalm 46:10 reminds us, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

What is one thing you can do to create more “patience for an interior life” in your daily routine?

Find five minutes of quiet time today to simply “be still” and listen to your heart and the presence of God.
