Being Loved

Every Moment Holy

Yesterday, I was home, recovering from Covid following the doctor’s orders to isolate until tomorrow. I was sad that I was unable to attend mass in person. However, it was the responsible choice as I don’t want to impact others if I’m possibly still contagious. I was loving my neighbor.

What a gift we have in being able to attend virtual services. And despite not being physically present with the Eucharist, God‘s presence radiated through the service. My heart was touched by the homily and the call to make my life a prayer. The spiritual communion was palpable and calling me to what is sacred.

To live out a life of prayer we are living a life in spiritual communion. We must live in a way that reflects Christ. We accept an invitation into a life of intentional discipleship. When we say, “I love You above all things,” we’re echoing His own commandment: “Follow me.” That call isn’t just about belief—it’s about action. It means taking up our cross daily, just as Christ did, and choosing the path of humility, service, and love, even when it’s inconvenient or uncomfortable.

By asking Christ to come spiritually into our hearts, we’re also pledging to become vessels of His presence—His hands and feet in the world. He told His disciples, “I am the vine; you are the branches.” So when we unite ourselves wholly to Him, we commit to bearing good fruit: forgiving others, seeking justice, feeding the hungry, and welcoming the outcast. And the plea, “Never permit me to be separated from You,” becomes a promise to walk His path, trusting that each choice rooted in love keeps us tethered to His grace.

To follow Him is to live this prayer not just in sacred moments—but in every moment, turning even the ordinary into something holy. Where we realize and wake up to the reality that every moment is holy.

An Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus,
I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there
and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.

Amen.
