Love is patient is the first characteristic of God’s definition of love. For me, this gives me focus on how I am meant to love both myself and others. When I lack patience with myself, I’m sending negative messages to the core of my being. I’m not being loving to the creature that God created in His image.
As we live in Easter joy, we carry close in our heart the message of Christ. The Divine became human to show us how to live and show us how to love. He came to fulfill the old law with a new one:
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, your whole soul, your whole mind, your whole strength, and love your neighbor as yourself.
Luke 10:27
It’s really that simple, but my human nature keeps me distracted. When I take my focus off what is most important to me, loving God, I’m not living in love. When I find myself impatient with myself and others, I need to look up and get my heart aligned with love.
Lord, thank You for showing me how to patiently love myself.
