Finding God's Goodness

Week Seventeen: Patience. Divine Providence

Month Four – Loving Myself. Fortitude with Faith produces patience

Patience is necessary.  However, it is a difficult virtue because it requires us to control our emotions and passions.

There is a close connection between Christian patience and awareness of and trust in the Providence of God. This is an awareness that there is nothing that happens in our life except that God foresees it, allows it, and can bring good out of it, if we trust in His loving and all-wise concern for each of us.

In my heart of hearts, do I feel that I’m worthy of this kind of love? As I surrender to God’s plan for me, I sink into the knowing that I am worthy because I am created in the image of God, in love.

For I know well the plans I have in mind for you, plans for your welfare and not for woe, so as to give you a future of hope. When you call me, and come and pray to me, I will listen to you. When you look for me, you will find me. Yes, when you seek me with all your heart, I will let you find me and I will change your lot; I will gather you together from all the nations and all the places to which I have banished you and bring you back to the place from which I have exiled you.

Jeramiah 29:11-14

Lord, thank You for giving me a future and a hope.
