Finding God's Goodness

Week Ten: The Virtue of Love. Spiritual Physics

Month Three: The Virtue of Prudence. Valuing God and finding love.

Just as there are physical laws that govern material objects, there are spiritual laws that govern the behavior and the relationships between human beings. We can be in tune with these laws in harmony or we can be in opposition, usually unhappy.

The laws of spiritual physics that are found in the Bible were obeyed by the countless martyrs and saints of the Church. The Commandments and the Beatitudes serve as the laws of spiritual physics. These laws are given out of love to guarantee our happiness. Obedience to them leads to inner harmony and rightly ordered relationships with others and with God.

When we find our center of gravity in Christ, everything else rotates in harmony around it. The humbler we become; the more God will exalt us. If we try to be first, we end up last. The more we give ourselves away in love, the more we receive. The more we participate in God’s own life, the more our humanity becomes alive.

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, they will be called children of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Matthew 5:1-12

Lord thank you for teaching me Spiritual Physics.
