Do you see the angels before you?
The other morning, I was headed on a business trip after a rough night in the Emergency Room with my husband who was not feeling well. I reached out to Betty, a woman who has been in my life for 30+ years, to see if she could help me with something while I was away for a few days. In this instance she was busy, but she’s been there for me and my children, caring for us and our home like we were her own. I call her my angel.

Let the King of my heart, be the mountain where I run. The fountain I drink from, be the shadow where I hide. The ransom for my life, be the wind inside my sails. The anchor in the waves, be the fire inside my veins. The echo of my days.

God does have a plan for our lives and this plan is good. To discover this plan, we need to follow the guidelines given in Scripture: give thanks, be set apart, do what is right, and understand suffering and glorification in Christ. These are the biblical guidelines we are given to live life.

In her study of happiness, Gretchen Rubin identified eight fundamental principles of happiness. In a spiritual sense, this is her “rule of life.” She determined her purpose and mission for what she wanted from life, which was to be happy. She derived the foundational principles and called them her Eight Splendid Truths. In reading these truths, I’m reminded of sacred scripture which I have also noted:

Where God is the center of our adoration, we can’t help but have an outpouring of love towards others and ourselves. But this takes fortitude in holding our ground and resisting poor choices.
