The Blueprint of God’s Love

Fr. Richard Rohr offers a profound vision of the soul: “I think of soul as anything’s ultimate meaning, which is held within. Soul is the blueprint inside of every living thing that tells it what it is and what it can become. When we meet anything at that level, we will respect, protect, and love it.”

But have you ever wondered whether you’ve truly discovered your own blueprint? If the soul is already present—truth, goodness, and beauty quietly shining within—why does it so often feel hidden or disconnected? Could it be that in our search for salvation, we sometimes overlook the deeper invitation to awaken to what is already there? And if we struggle to see our own soul, how can we begin to recognize it in others?

What if the task of faith is not to rescue us from some external danger, but to awaken us to the soul already within? To live from that place of truth, goodness, and beauty is to become fully alive, fully human, and fully capable of reverence for all creation.

Perhaps the invitation today is simple yet demanding: to pause, to listen, and to trust that the blueprint of God’s love is already inscribed within us. And once we glimpse it in ourselves, we will begin to see it everywhere—in neighbor, stranger, and the world itself.
