To Be Grounded

Scripture loves the language of growth. Vines, branches, roots, seeds, soil—images that are alive, slow, and stubbornly organic. They remind us that God never hands us a detailed itinerary toward perfection. Instead, he offers something far more intimate: a glimpse into the ongoing work of the Creator and the quiet, recurring rhythms of our cooperation.

Growth in God is not linear. It is seasonal, hidden and sometimes messy. And yet, beneath the surface, something steady is happening. We are being grounded.

To be grounded in God is to sink our roots into rich, deep earth—the kind that holds, nourishes, and steadies us when everything else feels unmoored. When our roots go deep, the Spirit can lead us beyond ourselves into a generosity that feels almost effortless. Fruit appears not because we strain for perfection, but because we are connected to the Source.

This kind of grounding creates right order. It frees us from the exhausting chase of self‑improvement and brings us back down to earth, where grace is actually found. Order in freedom. Stability without rigidity. Growth without anxiety.

Maybe that is the invitation today:
not to perfect ourselves,
but to root ourselves—
trusting that God is already at work in the soil of our becoming.
