Eternal life is knowing a personal God. Prayer begins by entering that relationship of perfect love.
I’m not sure how but something clicked for me.
I’ll admit that much of my life, I had always tried to approach prayer like an achievement—measuring success by how long I could sit still, how deeply I could concentrate, how fervently I could speak. But none of that felt sustainable. And more importantly, it never really felt like connection.
Then I realized something transformative: prayer doesn’t begin when I’m perfectly silent or totally focused. It begins when I am open to a relationship with Him.
Not a task. Not a routine. A relationship.
The God we worship isn’t abstract, distant, or unknowable. He is the God who walked among us in Christ. The One who knew hunger and joy, tears and laughter. He is not waiting for perfect words or perfect posture—He’s waiting for our hearts.
To know Him is eternal life. And to pray is to say: “I trust You with myself.”
We don’t need to earn His attention. We already have it. Every breath we take is an invitation into communion. Every moment, however noisy or distracted, holds the potential to say, “Here I am, Lord.”
So now, when I begin to pray, I start not with striving—but with surrender.
I begin by simply showing up.
And that’s where love meets me.

Amen amen Cynthia! It’s all about (and only about) RELATIONSHIP!!! Thank you for this meaningful post.
