The purpose of the Holy Mass is to glorify God and sanctify the world. As kingdom priests, we are called to unite our hearts and minds with Christ, through the power of the Holy Spirit.
We are not passive observers—we hold a sacred role.
Each of us is invited to fully participate, to be present, to celebrate. We pray with devotion, we sing with joy, and we offer our whole selves in worship. This is our spiritual duty and our privileged mission.
In the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the concept of a “kingdom of priests” refers to the spiritual dignity and mission shared by all baptized believers. Rooted in Scripture (Exodus 19:6; Revelation 1:6), this idea is beautifully expressed in CCC 1546, which states:
“Christ, high priest and unique mediator, has made of the Church ‘a kingdom, priests for his God and Father.’ The whole community of believers is, as such, priestly.”
This means:
- Through Baptism and Confirmation, the faithful are consecrated to participate in Christ’s priestly mission.
- This is called the common priesthood of the faithful, distinct from the ministerial priesthood conferred through Holy Orders.
- All believers are called to offer spiritual sacrifices—such as prayer, acts of charity, and daily devotion—as part of their priestly role.
It’s a powerful reminder that every Christian, not just ordained clergy, shares in Christ’s mission to sanctify the world, our privileged mission and sacred role.

Well said!
