Being Loved

Spirit of Faith

Much of the Bible calls us to entrust our lives completely to God compelling us to meditate on the meaning of faith. The Scriptures rest upon faith and remain inspired by the Spirit of faith.

It is often said that “faith” is the most misunderstood word in the religious vocabulary. What do you think? How do you define faith?

Faith is an attitude of trust in the presence of God. Faith is openness to what God will reveal, do, and invite. It should be obvious that in dealing with the infinite, all-powerful God, we are never in control. We are asked to be child-like in trust.

We see this faith play out in the lives of the saints from Mother Teresa moving into the worst slum in the world in an attitude of trust; to Maximilian Kolbe saying, “I’m a Catholic priest; take me in his place.”

Where is God calling you to have more faith? The broken parts of our hearts where we need a healing shift in perspective is a good place to start. By surrendering completely to the mystery, we are drawn into the Spirit of Faith. In this action, we begin to not worry, and depend on God for everything. We have faith.
