What stirs you to love?
This is a very important question as we ultimately will be judged by how well we loved. All those daily opportunities to love ourselves through Christ’s love and to love others we encounter. This endurance to love is the way Christ’s mission is fulfilled in this world as we wait for our heavenly home.
It is by endurance that you will secure possession of your souls (Luke 21:18).
We think a lot, we get crippled with excess and too many choices. This distraction is a tactic to keep us from the simplicity of falling in love with the Divine.
Can you think of an opportunity where you failed to show someone you encountered charity because you were in a hurry? When our hearts are stirred in love, in the knowing of God’s love for us, that gaze provides us an inner freedom and peace. Love is the path to possessing our soul and true happiness.
“The possession of a soul means the undisturbed mastery of oneself, which is the secret of inner peace, as distinguished from a thousand agitations which make it fearful, unhappy, and disappointed. Only when a soul is possessed can anything else be enjoyed. Our Lord here meant patience in adversity, trial, and persecution. At the end of three hours on the Cross, He would so possess His soul that He would render it back to the Heavenly Father.” —Fulton J. Sheen
