One thing Thomas Keating advises about Centering Prayer is to spend twenty minutes a day in silence. When you are busy, spend another twenty. I used to think this was crazy but I realize this is pretty profound advice.
I recently went through a busy season of work where my morning routine was truncated and I noticed a difference. The discipline of showing up and having the spirit of self-control to do what is right, means something and this practice orders my day to what’s important.
When was the last time you felt truly at peace? How often do you have real clarity about the purpose and direction of your life?
These are the gifts that silence lavishly bestows on us: peace and clarity.
Thank you Lord, for drawing me to your voice.
