Taste and See

Reflections for contemplative living

Do you taste and see goodness in your life? Take a Georgia peach for example. I recently experienced how a juicy, delicious peach grounded me in God’s goodness where I tasted and saw the goodness of God in the details of the peach. There was such beauty in the small details of those few moments of pursuing joy as the nose and taste buds danced with delight.   God gave me the gift of that moment to experience such joy and overwhelming gratitude.

God is in the details, the small details of our lives when we wake up and notice. I was in awe and wonder that the divine would have the foresight to bring me such joy when I experience the richness and deliciousness of a small insignificant peach.

When I overcome my laziness, apply myself, and thirst for knowledge, God makes his presence known.  In filling my mind with the divine light, every good thing becomes clear.

Thank you, Lord, for leading me to recognize what is true and unadulterated, and laying those treasures in my soul.

  1. Wonderful post! Thank you! Reminds me of “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!”
