When I am in love with God and “fearing” him above all things, I am rooted in a power that transcends space and time. A power that governs the universe in its entirety, a power that is greater than life and death.
How often do I function from a different posture, usually through a lens of fear of losing my life…and the death of my body. But I am told not to worry about those paper tigers that can only affect the body and its goods.
All of the body’s goods are nothing compared to the supreme good of life with God. There is nothing that evil wants more than to draw us away from this and distract us. Life with God means loving my Creator above all and loving my neighbor justly, through a lens of love and charity.
This power knows me intimately and guides me according to his purposes:
Are not five sparrows sold for two small coins? Yet not one of them has escaped the notice of God. Even the hairs of your head have all been counted.
Luke 12:1-7
Do not be afraid.
Because of this I have nothing to fear from anything or anybody here below. My soul knows this belovedness but my head and heart have a hard time connecting to this.
Thank you. God, for drawing me close so I lose my fear where Your Supreme good showers a generous spirit upon me, calling me to work for justice for my fellow brothers and sisters
