Finding God's Goodness

Week Thirty-Six. Tempted to Doubt. Divine Help.

Valuing My Body. Temperance with love leads to chastity.

Chastity is a fruit of the Holy Spirit which helps us right-order our desires and cultivate a pure heart. It is a purity and freedom from immorality, especially of a sexual nature.

Our thoughts are not sins unless we dwell on them, indulge them, or act on them. We are bound to have misaligned thoughts from time to time as we are human. But what I do with them is on me. If I dismiss them and refuse to give them life, I don’t sin and become disconnected from God. I can actually use these situations to grow in relationship with God by leaning into the Spirit and asking for divine help.

Dearest Jesus! I know well that every perfect gift, and above all others that of chastity, depends upon the most powerful assistance of Your Providence, and that without You a creature can do nothing. Therefore, I pray You to defend, with Your grace, chastity and purity in my soul as well as in my body. And if I have ever received through my senses any impression that could stain my chastity and purity, may You, Who are the Supreme Lord of all my powers, take it from me, that I may with an immaculate heart advance in Your love and service, offering myself chaste all the days of my life on the most pure altar of Your Divinity.

Prayer for Chastity St Thomas Aquinas

Thank you Lord for always being there to help me, even when I forget.
