The most precious gift we can receive is wisdom. Wisdom is the source of blessings, a counselor and comfort and a gift of God. In her is a spirit of subtle intelligence, holiness, agile certainty leading us to love the good. Nothing is richer than wisdom who produces all things.
Loving the good, also known as righteousness, is the key to life. Wisdom does not reside in a soul that plots evil or a body under the debt of sin. We are called to both action and contemplation. Both allow us wisdom to live life.
It is not enough to be compassionate. You must act. There are two aspects to action. One is to overcome the distortions and afflictions of your own mind, that is, in terms of calming and eventually dispelling anger. This is action out of compassion. The other is more social, more public. When something needs to be done in the world to rectify the wrongs, if one is really concerned with benefiting others, one needs to be engaged, involved.

Lord, thank you for Your wisdom and constant guidance in my actions…when I listen.
