What will you wear today? For many years I was focused on presenting the image I wanted people to see. Keeping up with the latest fashions, driving a luxury car or spending my time and energy on having a Martha Stewart home filled a lot of my time. These things helped me feel affluent and successful, convincing myself I had “arrived” and could check off another box and life goal. But Sacred Love knocked on the door of my heart, drawing me toward wisdom to learn that there is more.
There is worldly wisdom but I was lacking spiritual wisdom. My things creating my persona wasn’t necessarily the issue because God wants us to enjoy life, the things the world and our rich culture provide. But my motives were off, I was trying to fill the God-sized hole in my heart with things other than God. By noticing something was off and taking that to prayer, Sacred Love is taking me on the journey of a lifetime!
The wisdom of God is often personified as a woman, and she is “the fashioner” and “mother” of all good things:
A spirit that is intelligent, holy, unique, manifold, subtle, mobile, clear, unpolluted, distinct, invulnerable, loving the good, keen, irresistible, beneficent, humane, steadfast, sure, free from anxiety, all-powerful, overseeing all, and penetrating through all.
Wisdom 7:22-23
Wisdom draws me to all that is good and I can clothe myself in this goodness, learning what love is as God designed.
Today I will call on Wisdom, the mind of Christ and stand firm knowing I’m created in God’s image.
This is one of my absolute favorites! What a beautiful picture too if how we are to spiritually clothe ourselves in wisdom and righteousness!
