During this season of Lent, sin reminds us that love can only be made perfect in the chaste Christ. This has been a hard concept for an achiever and recovering perfectionist like me. When I do something, I want to succeed. It is difficult emotionally when I don’t, and I’ve set my life up to avoid these situations.
As I mature in my spiritual journey, I realize how ego-driven thinking this is. I am dust and will return to dust. Only Christ is perfection, both human and divine. Sin, or anything I do that disconnects me from God, ultimately ends up helping me constantly to look for God, to strive for perfect love. If I achieved the perfect love in this life, I would experience heaven on earth. My eternal resting place will be lived in perfect love.
I am forgiven for all my sins.
Ephesians 1:11
Thank you, Lord, for allowing me moments of perfect love in my life yet not allowing me to be complacent.
