The Our Father is truly the summary of the whole gospel and the perfect prayer Jesus handed to us that teaches us how we should pray. Everyone has petitions which are unique to our circumstances; we should begin with the Our Father as the foundation of our prayer life before and other desires.
God wants us to have rightly ordered desires.
Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

The Our Father teaches us how to appropriately ask for things and allow the Holy Spirit to increase the Gift of Piety within me.
