There is Something About Mary Series – Obtaining God’s Promises

Ponder:  Do you need a little help trusting God’s promises?  The gift of the rosary can help. 

Thank you for joining Smitten with Goodness in honoring Our Perfect Mother during the month of May as we have pondered, prayed, reflected, and acted our way through the rosary. Today, we pray our final prayer. Pause for a few moments of silence to prepare or recite the rosary as indicated in chart here if you wish.

Pray:  Prayer After the Rosary

Let us pray.  O God, whose only-begotten Son, by his life, death, and resurrection has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life.  Grant we beseech you, that we who meditate upon these mysteries of the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary may we imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise.  We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Reflect: Lord, you give us life, including the gift of eternal life.  As I spend time getting to know you through the stories and events of your life, you teach me lessons on how to live to my fullest, to be more like you and bring your love into the world.  By imitating you, I grow in the fruits of your goodness.

Your joyful times teach me humility, how to love my neighbor and live my mission.  You show me the importance of poverty of spirit and giving my best. I learn how to trust Your promises in obedience and to seek You, in piety, with all my heart.

The most sorrowful events help me understand the importance of alignment and conformity to God’s will and how lovingly accepting sacrifice by putting to death my sinful habits and self-centered tendencies helps me do this.  I learn to strengthen my resolve with moral courage and patience in my struggle to be holy.  In the end, I know all will be well by my Salvation.

Your luminous times help me have sacred priorities and be open to the Holy Spirit.  I can strengthen my faith by meeting You through Your mother.  I learn the radical beauty of forgiveness by the gift of repentance and how desiring holiness can transform my life.  I find nourishment for my soul, my soul food, in the ultimate gift of Your Body and Blood in the Eucharist. 

The gifts from Your glorious mysteries strengthen my faith, hope and love, giving me wisdom to bear good fruit.  You show me how Mother Mary is such an amazing role model and draw me to be devoted to her.  In turn, she shows me the secret to eternal happiness to be intent on things above rather than on earth. Always pointing the way to You!

Act:   Today, I will trust in God’s promises, accept the gifts I have been given and be smitten with goodness.
