There is Something About Mary Series – The Wisdom of Bearing Good Fruit

Day Twenty-Seven: Ponder, Pray, Reflect, Act

Ponder:  Would those around you describe you as loving, joyful, peaceful, patient, kind, good, gentle and with self-control?

Pause for a few moments of silence, recite the prayers as indicated in chart here if you wish to prepare for today’s mystery.  You might offer a prayer request for each decade or a Hail Mary for a specific person.

Pray:  The Third Glorious Mystery: The Descent of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost

The Holy Spirit descends upon Mary and the apostles.  Fruit of the Mystery: Wisdom

When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together. And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were. Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim. Acts 2:1-4

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.  Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus, pouring forth His Holy Spirit. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Pray for us Mary, gate of Heaven, That the Holy Spirit will fill us with wisdom and power to do His will.

Reflect:  The disciples were afraid. Most of us have probably never experienced fear like the fear they were gripped with. They were afraid they would be killed for being Jesus’ followers. But if they were not killed, what were they to do now that Jesus was gone?  God, true to His word, did not leave them as orphans.  The Holy Spirit descended upon apostles and transformed them. Their fear was banished, and they were filled with courage. This is the greatest before-and-after story, the world has ever seen.  God did not leave us as orphans either and the Spirit can do the same for us today.  We can be people of love and joy through the fruit of the Spirit.  The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.  Are these fruits a normal part of your life?

Act:   The Holy Spirit turned the cowardly apostles into world conquerors. I will be transformed by saying say yes and embracing His calling in my life today.

Inspire with your life. Words convince the mind, but actions change the heart.
