Who Am I?

Season of goodness in prayer

He (Jesus) then asked, “And you – what are you saying about me? Who am I?”  Peter gave the answer: “You are the Christ, the Messiah.”  Mark 8:29

Jesus,

You are Christ, the Messiah –

the promised anointed one who saved the world.

You are The Light of the World –

able to shine through all darkness.

You are The High Priest who tore the veil –

through you, we have direct and free access to God.

You are The Good Shepherd –

guiding, protecting, and calling us back when we stray.

You are The WayMaker –

moving mountains, healing, bringing beauty from the ashes.

Lord, continue to show me who you are, and I will gladly tell others all about you.

Amen

Choosing God’s Goodness

Seasons of goodness in prayer

We have difficulty understanding God’s omnipotence and omniscience respects our freedom.  In the core of our being we remain free to accept or reject God’s action in our lives.  This includes the level of its intensity. God wants us to accept him with all our ‘heart, soul, mind, and strength’—in other words, as intensely as possible. But he also knows that we are burdened with selfishness and have evil and impure tendencies, so it takes a great effort on our part to correspond to his grace.

Witness of Hope

Season of goodness in prayer

We can only see the world through the lens of what we know at the time. To one person, a sign points one way and a vastly different direction to another. How might we modern believers become signs pointing to Christ amidst so many competing worldviews? It’s complicated, but part of the answer is joining creation as a witness to the good news.

Who Are You Looking For?

Season of goodness in prayer

When we recognize who we are, it’s easier to find what we are looking for. Once we see ourselves, and others, as all of God‘s creation, we spend less time looking for the material comforts of the world. Instead, our hearts long for something deeper that can only be filled by God.

Grace for Today

The season of goodness in prayer

Lord, give me the grace for today

Before me, the day looms with great possibilities, and greater challenges. I put it all on your hands. Order my day and order my life. Help me to embrace every challenge, to be open to all you have to give, and to see all as opportunity. One moment at a time. One person at a time. One gift at a time. Help me to breathe in your spirit and to exhale any fear that may cause me to question and to worry. The world causes stress.

You offer peace. I choose you!

Amen

Learning to Listen

The season of goodness in prayer

Any relationship requires listening in order to understand the other. Sitting in God’s presence allows us to know the quiet whispers and nudgings. As we drink in God’s love, our awe becomes praise. Full hearts become full and overflow with love being drawn to want eternal things.

Here I am Lord; I come to do your will.

Speak, for your servant is listening.

Amen
