The ability to keep peace within us is indeed a gift. We can cultivate the art of keeping peace in our hearts despite problems or challenges we encounter, despite others’ words or actions. And God wants us to have a peaceful heart.

We deserve the best life and love have to offer, but we are faced with the challenge of learning to identify what that means in our life. We must each come to grips with our own understanding of what we believe we deserve, what we want, and whether we are receiving it.

Conversion means to transition into a higher life, arising from a preoccupation with the goods of the world and a reorientation to the things of God.

We are told not to fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Through the power of God’s being, He has linked us to the creative source of all existence. Within that place we are safe—even from those who would kill the body.

As Christians, we are offered relief from our burdens. Are you oppressed by the world, by sin, worries, suffering, injustice, the death of a relative or friend, or the fear of death?

As a spiritual being living a human existence, we must always seek to live a spiritual life. This is a life of awareness, growth, and maturity.  But it’s a fine line as our progress is only a result of God’s grace. Our role is to walk the narrow path of humility, aligning my will with God’s and giving my all.

Throughout scripture, we find stories about Jesus calming the storms at sea.  Through this lens, we witness some of the spiritual dynamics of fear and trust. The disciples stand symbolically for all of us journeying through life within the narrow confines of our fearful ego.

It has been said that man will not consent to drive away the moneychangers from the temple of his soul until he realizes that it is a Holy of Holies, the house of God. This allows us to see our true worth.
