Sometimes God speaks in the most ordinary places like in the checkout line at the grocery store. I was standing there, caught up by the busyness of shopping on a holiday weekend when a magazine cover caught my eye. The simple words rose from the glossy page like a quiet summons: an invitation to linger longer.
It felt like the Spirit tapping my shoulder and invited me to reflect on what is catching my eye these days. What is stirring in my heart. Is it on worry? On hurry? On the next thing to get done? Or is there a gentle pull toward something slower, quieter, more spacious?
Maybe that moment in the checkout line wasn’t about a magazine at all. Maybe it was a reminder that God is already in the life right in front of me, inviting me to pause, to breathe, to notice. To linger a little longer in the places where grace is trying to get my attention.
Lingering is not laziness, its is form of love and is how the soul learns to see again.
Perhaps God is inviting you, too to slow down, to soften your gaze, to let your heart rest where it needs to rest. To linger longer with beauty, with people, with Scripture, with silence, with the small mercies woven into your day.
Because sometimes the holiest thing we can do is simply stop long enough to notice that God is already here.
