Day 37 – Holy Wednesday (Spy Wednesday) — The Quiet Betrayals

A Journey of Presence, Tenderness, and Transformation

Holy Wednesday is sometimes called Spy Wednesday, marking the moment Judas quietly agreed to hand Jesus over. It is a painful story, not because it is distant from us, but because it is close. Judas’ betrayal did not begin with a single act—it began with a slow turning inward, a narrowing of vision, a quiet choosing of self‑protection over relationship.

If we’re honest, we all carry a piece of Judas within us. We all know what it is to turn in on ourselves, to let fear or disappointment harden our hearts, to choose our own way even when love invites us otherwise. And yet—even here—Jesus does not withdraw. He continues to share meals, offer friendship, and extend grace.

Holy Wednesday invites us to face our own quiet betrayals not with shame, but with compassion. God meets us in the very places where we pull away, offering the possibility of turning back toward love.

Scripture: “Surely not I, Lord?” (Matthew 26:22)

Question: Where might God be inviting you to face a difficult truth with compassion rather than shame?
