Each year, the Holy Father invites the Church—and anyone of goodwill—to unite in prayer for a specific intention each month. It’s a simple but powerful way to remember that our faith is never lived alone. When we pray with the intentions of the Pope, we join our voices with millions around the world, asking God to move in our hearts and in our communities.
For January, the Holy Father asks us to pray for a deeper encounter with the Word of God. His intention is beautifully straightforward:
That praying with Scripture may nourish our lives and become a source of hope in our communities, helping us build a more fraternal and missionary Church.
This month, we’re invited to return to the Scriptures not as a task, but as food—something that strengthens, steadies, and renews us. When we pray with the Word of God, we allow it to shape our choices, soften our hearts, and awaken hope where it may have grown thin. And as that hope grows in us, it naturally extends outward, becoming a gift for the people around us.
May this intention guide our days in January. May the Word of God become our nourishment, our encouragement, and our shared mission as we seek to build a Church—and a world—rooted in fraternity, compassion, and the joy of the Gospel.
