When We Seek God, We Find Him

The Feast of the Epiphany yesterday is a reminder that God is always revealing himself—often quietly, often unexpectedly, always with love. The Magi didn’t stumble into Bethlehem by accident. They saw something, however faint or distant, and they chose to follow. Their journey began with a glimpse of God’s light, and that was enough to set their lives in motion. Wise men still seek Him.

Epiphany invites us into the same holy questions the Magi must have carried across the desert: Where are we traveling? What are we seeking? What star will we follow? These aren’t questions for scholars or saints alone. They’re for anyone who has ever felt a tug toward something deeper, truer, more beautiful than the life they’re living now.

Seeing God isn’t about perfect clarity. It’s about noticing the small star rising on the horizon of our lives—a moment of awe, a whisper of longing, a nudge toward compassion—and choosing to move toward it. When we dare to follow even the smallest light, we discover that God has already been seeking us. And when we see him, even dimly, we find him waiting with joy.

Epiphany is not just a feast; it’s an invitation. A chance to lift our eyes, reorient our hearts, and begin again. The star is shining. The question is simply: which way will we walk?
