The day after Christmas often feels quieter. The wrapping paper is gone, the house is still, and the world seems to exhale. But today’s canticle from Daniel reminds us that heaven and earth are anything but silent. Creation itself is singing.
“Bless the Lord, all you works of the Lord.
Praise and exalt him above all forever.”
This ancient song gathers everything—angels and stars, frost and fire, mountains and rivers, dolphins and birds, the humble and the holy—and invites them into one great chorus of praise. It’s as if the whole universe leans toward Bethlehem and whispers, “Glory.”
On this second day of Christmas, we’re invited to join that cosmic hymn. Not with fanfare or noise, but with the quiet praise that rises from a grateful heart. The Christ Child is still in the manger. The miracle is still unfolding and creation is still rejoicing.
The winds praise him in their movement.
The snow praises him in its stillness.
The beasts praise him simply by being what they were made to be.
And we, sons and daughters of God, praise him by letting our lives become a blessing in return.
Today, let the canticle widen your gaze. Let it remind you that Christmas is not a single day but a season of wonder. The whole world is singing because God has come near. And we are part of that song.
