Are you addicted to busyness?
“YOU are anxious and worried about MANY things.”
Jesus’ words to Martha have never applied more perfectly to more people than they do today. With the advancement of technology it seems we humans are slaves to its pace. We are constantly trying to keep up with it all and in the process become addicted to the dopamine rush it creates within us at a neural level and the cycle begins.
It’s hard to swim against the current and to cut out the things everyone expects you to track. It might cost friends who demand instant replies. It may cost your “in‑the‑know” status if you stop devouring the news. Or even social‑media connections if you step away or don’t “like” all the Instagram feeds others send to you. But the real cost is far greater if you don’t.
Here lies our battle and one worth fighting. I know for my life, I must be intentional about my choices and constantly discern God’s. Will you protect the peace YOU have been given through Christ? Will you spend the precious time of your day drawing towards God? Or will you worry about the MANY things in the world.
What’s one thing you can step away from today to lighten your load and perhaps rest at Christ’s feet. Resting in the “better part” like Mary.
Peace be with you!
