Being Loved

All Is Gift

St. Ignatius of Loyola is known for saying
“All is gift.” Ignatian spirituality carries this message forward, inviting us to find God in all things. Everything around us, both beauty and suffering, can speak of God.

At first this seems untrue. How can suffering be a gift? As we enter deep into the events of Good Friday, we might ask ourselves what is “good” about Good Friday?

How can hardship, sickness, and even death be good?

Grace calls us to see the blessings in everything. If there wasn’t the cross, we wouldn’t have eternal life.

As we venerate the cross today, I pray we see the cruelty and the love it holds and ponder how Jesus broke himself out of love for you and me.

Think about that.

And carry this loving gift in your heart.
