We can change, we can remake ourselves and we can rebuild our lives. How? One choice at a time. Do you know what your role is in God’s plan? Are you firmly aware of your mission and purpose to bring the light of Christ to our world? Our brokenness can keep us blind and searching in the darkness. I’m convinced that sometimes this is the easier path than taking a risk in doing something different. Instead, we get stuck in the comfort of our minds and limited thoughts that narrow our possibilities. This is exactly where the evil one wants us.
I recently was walking along a difficult season with a friend who I love dearly. She was stuck, angry and hopeless about her situation, again. It was hard for me to sit with her in this “stuckness”. Rather than leaning into the frustration I was starting to feel, I started to pray asking for the Spirit’s guidance. I sat, listened, acknowledged and affirmed her. The next day, she was open to new possibilities, creating a shift and movement towards a different perspective. She had the courage to take a step into the unknown and connect with a new group of people with common interests. The sacred space we held together allowed her to surrender her situation to God, the best choice.
Loving well is what stands before us each day in order to fulfill God’s plan. It’s calling on the light of Christ within us when it’s humanly hard to do so. It’s holding our judgmental thoughts captive and allowing the Spirit to purify them into compassion. It’s a choice when we turn to prayer and allow God’s grace to form our life to be more like Christ. This is choosing love which is always the better choice.
