Intercessory Prayer for Humility

Lord, I intercede for those who need humility and meekness in their lives. I pray that You would teach them to humble themselves before You and before others, acknowledging their dependence on You and their need for Your grace.

Lord, be their humility and their example, their model and their mentor. May they have the same mind as Christ Jesus, who though He was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men; and being found in human form, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. May they clothe themselves with humility toward one another, for You oppose the proud but give grace to the humble. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

This prayer is based on Philippians 2:5-8, which exhorts us to have the same mind as Christ Jesus in His humility.

Intercessory Prayer for Freedom

Father, I intercede for those who are bound by sin, addiction, or fear. I pray that You would set them free by Your power and by Your truth, breaking every chain and every stronghold that holds them captive.

Lord, be their freedom and their deliverance, their liberator and their savior. May they know the truth that sets them free and the Son who makes them free indeed. May they live in freedom and not in bondage, serving You with joy and gratitude. May they use their freedom not as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

This prayer is based on John 8:36, which declares that if the Son sets us free, we will be free indeed.

Gracious God, I intercede for those who need grace and mercy in their lives. I pray that You would lavish Your grace upon them, forgiving their sins and cleansing them from all unrighteousness.

Lord, be their grace and their salvation, their redeemer and their friend. May they not receive Your grace in vain, but cooperate with it in obedience and holiness. May they grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. May they extend Your grace to others, forgiving as You have forgiven them. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

This prayer is based on 2 Corinthians 6:1, which urges us not to receive the grace of God in vain.

Lord, be their faith and their assurance, their confidence and their conviction. May they believe in You and Your Son Jesus Christ, whom You have sent. May they walk by faith and not by sight, living by the power of Your Spirit and Your Word. May they have faith that can move mountains and please You. May they be faithful to You and to Your calling, until the day of Your appearing. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

This prayer is based on Mark 9:24, which records the cry of a father who brought his son to Jesus for healing: “I believe; help my unbelief!”

Loving God, I intercede for those who need love and acceptance in their lives. I pray that You would pour out Your love into their hearts by Your Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

Lord, be their love and their life, their friend and their father. May they know how wide and long and high and deep is Your love for them that surpasses knowledge. May they love You with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength; and love their neighbors as themselves. May they love one another as You have loved them; by this all people will know that they are Your disciples. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

This prayer is based on Romans 5:5, which affirms that God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

Wonderful Father, I intercede for those who need joy and happiness in their lives. I pray that You would fill them with Your joy that is unspeakable and full of glory, overflowing from Your presence and Your salvation.

Lord, be their joy and their crown, their delight and their reward. May they rejoice always in You, giving thanks in all circumstances. May they sing to You a new song, praising You with gladness and gratitude. May they experience Your joy as their strength and their shield. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

This prayer is based on 1 Peter 1:8-9, which says that though we have not seen Him (Jesus), we love Him; though we do not now see Him, we believe in Him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory; obtaining the outcome of our faith, the salvation of our souls.

Mighty God, I intercede for those who need protection and security in their lives. I pray that You would cover them with Your feathers and under Your wings they would find refuge; Your faithfulness would be their shield and rampart.

Lord, be their fortress and their deliverer, their refuge and their strength. May they dwell in the secret place of the Most High and abide under the shadow of the Almighty. May they not fear the terror of the night or the arrow that flies by day. May they call upon You in trouble and You would answer them and deliver them. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

This prayer is based on Psalm 91:1-4, which declares that he who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty; He will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

Omniscient God, I intercede for those who need wisdom and understanding in their lives. I pray that You would give them a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You, enlightening the eyes of their hearts to know the hope to which You have called them, the riches of Your glorious inheritance in the saints, and the immeasurable greatness of Your power toward us who believe. Lord, be their wisdom and their teacher, their counselor and their guide. May they ask You for wisdom in faith, without doubting, and receive it generously from You. May they apply Your wisdom in all their decisions and actions, glorifying You in everything they do. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

This prayer is based on Ephesians 1:17-19, which prays that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give us a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him

Lord, I intercede for those who are feeling hopeless or discouraged. I pray that You would fill them with Your hope that does not disappoint, anchoring their souls in Your promises and Your faithfulness. 

Lord, be their hope and their future, their anchor and their assurance. May they look to You as the author and finisher of their faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. May they rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, and be constant in prayer. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Lord, be their fire and their zeal, their joy, and their delight. May they hunger and thirst for You more than anything else. May they seek You with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength. May they worship You in spirit and truth, serving You with gratitude and obedience. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
