To be the change we want to see in the world, we must see the value of what is in front of us. God exists in gift form. If we want his life within, we have to learn to give it away. Think of everything we have received from God: life, breath, being, powers. Because they come from God, they are meant to become gifts. If we cling to them, they don’t grow and in fact can wither away.
We all have darkness and light within us. It is a choice on which side we land. Do we feed the ego, protect it, and let the gifts we’ve been given wither? Or do we pick up our cross, choosing to walk in the light of mercy, forgiveness, and compassion, giving others the gift that we ourselves have received from God. By doing so, we invest in our spiritual life.
Thank you, Lord, for teaching me to give the gifts I’ve been given away, multiplying Your light.
